PREPARATION
Bowmore 1988 Vintage Edition Whiskey was distilled in 1988, so at the time of its release in 2017, it had matured for almost 30 years in first-fill bourbon casks. Founded over two centuries ago in 1779, Bowmore is the first registered distillery on Islay and one of the oldest in Scotland. Islay malts are famous for their smoky peat and Bowmore is no exception. They carefully smoke their malts in a peat kiln, just as their ancestors did over 200 years ago. It is the unique combination of the purest water from the River Laggan, speckled and smoked barley, the finest oak casks, Islay's natural environment and a team of artisans who together create the perfect balance for all of Bowmore's single malt Scotch whiskey ranges.
TASTING
View: Golden amber color.
Nose: Aroma of chopped almond, bakewell cherry, toasted oak and sea breeze.
Mouth: Hearty oak with notes of buttered toast, seaweed and caramel, lightly floral on the edges.
