PREPARATION
Ballantine's Brazil is a vibrant blend of Ballantine's and fresh Brazilian limes, infusing the Scotch whiskey with a spicy lime flavor.
It was created by Master Blender Sandy Hyslop to honor the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Summer Olympics, both held in Brazil. To make it, dried Brazilian lime peels are macerated in muslin bags inside second-fill American oak bourbon barrels, along with a special blend of Ballantine's whiskey. After a certain maceration time, more of this special blend is added to the whiskey to reduce and refine the lime flavor, before adding the sugar (only 2%) and vanilla essence.
