PREPARATION
Auchentoshan 12 Years is made from pure water and malted barley, gently baked and completely uncrushed lets the Auchentoshan flavor shine. After fermentation, triple distillation is carried out, a procedure that no other Scottish distillery performs. And the story of Auchentoshan is about Distilling Different to create a Lowlands whiskey. If a spirit wants to be called single malt Scotch, it must mature in oak for at least three years, not less. This whiskey matures for 12 years in selected oak barrels that contained bourbon, sherry or fine wine. It is an essential step in the creation of Auchentoshan: the spirit and the wood work together for many years, giving color and flavor to the finished whiskey. Thanks to the balance between the unique flavors imparted by each barrel, a whiskey with flavors across the entire spectrum is created.
TASTING
View: Golden honey color.
Nose: Distinctive crème brulee aroma with a burst of citrus and then the characteristic nuttiness and green leafiness you would expect from Auchentoshan.
Mouth: Smooth palate with sweet notes along with hints of mandarin and lime. Bitter and slightly dry finish with a pleasant and persistent nutty flavor.
