Description
PREPARATION
Grapes: 80% Tempranillo, 10% Grenache and 10% Graciano.
The Aradon Calzadas 2016 red wine was made traditionally in steel tanks with 20 days of maceration. Malolactic fermentation was carried out in concrete tanks. And its aging period was 14 months in French and American oak barrels and a minimum of 14 months in the bottle. Aradón was a town that existed since Roman times and that mysteriously disappeared, it was located on a plane at 550m. of altitude called “La Mesa” currently occupied by vineyards up to 90 years old, owned by Bodegas Aradón (Cooperativa Vinícola Riojana de Alcanadre). And close to several Roman roads and a Roman aqueduct from the 1st century AD, called “Puente Moros”. Since 1957, in the town of Alcanadre, 36km away. East of Logroño, the winegrowers of Alcanadre pay tribute to Aradón, giving their name to their wines made with grapes from very old vineyards, some of them centuries old, which they have cultivated with care generation after generation for centuries.
