What to combine brandy with?

What to combine brandy with?
You may not be very interested in premium brandy cocktails. But when you consider all the varieties that fall into the brandy category, things change pretty quickly.  When we talk about cocktails, brandy as a main ingredient is unlikely to come to mind. This is partly because the term can be somewhat confusing and unclear. Additionally, both brandy and cognac are often associated with an old-fashioned or low-quality feel. This is due to the broad definition of the term and the lack of specific regulations.  However, if we consider that cognac, a high-quality liquor, is also classified as brandy, we quickly realize that cocktails with brandy can be exquisite and sophisticated.  Here are some of our favorite brandy cocktails that you can easily make at home. If you still don't have the main drink at home, you can visit our brandy catalog and choose the option that interests you most. With a quality Brandy it will be easier for you to make one of the following cocktails.

1- Brandy Alexander

The Brandy Alexander is a well-known cocktail made primarily with brandy. Its preparation is quite simple: you just need to mix white cocoa cream, cream and, of course, cognac. This combination produces a creamy, delicious drink that many enjoy.

2- Brandy Crusta Cocktail

The Brandy Crusta Cocktail is a truly special cocktail that I have had the pleasure of tasting. I highly recommend you try it. This exquisite concoction combines maraschino liqueur, brandy, curaçao and Angostura bitters, creating a unique flavor experience that you are sure to enjoy.

3- Brandy Old Fashioned

The Brandy Old Fashioned is an excellent interpretation of the traditional Old Fashioned cocktail recipe. To prepare it, you only need a quality brandy, sugar, a few drops of Angostura bitters and a touch of lemon-lime soda, such as Sprite, to give it a touch of freshness.

4- Vieux Carré

The Vieux Carré is a classic and vibrant cocktail that originated in the French Quarter of New Orleans. It's a lovely blend combining brandy, rye whiskey, sweet vermouth, DOM Benedicte and cocktail bitters. It is an iconic drink that captures the essence and history of this vibrant city.

5- Sazerac

The Sazerac is a classic cocktail with a rich and long history, perfect for those with a more experienced palate in the world of brandy. This drink combines brandy, whiskey, absinthe and Peychaud's bitters in a powerful yet balanced blend, accented with a touch of sugar to give it the right balance. Ideal for those looking to explore intense and complex flavors in their drinks.

6- Pisco Sour

Pisco is also known as aguardiente. The best Pisco Sour is mainly found in South America, but you can also make it at home.  All you need is a good Pisco, freshly squeezed lemon juice, syrup, an egg white and a few drops of Angostura bitters.

7- Sidecar

The Sidecar cocktail is typically prepared using cognac, although it is possible to use other types of brandy to obtain equally satisfactory results. This drink combines the rich aroma of cognac with the refreshing taste of lemon juice and the sweet touch of Cointreau, resulting in a deliciously complex blend with a distinctive citrus flavor.

8- Metropolitan Cocktail

This drink is like a version of the Manhattan, but simpler. You only need brandy, sweet vermouth, sugar and cocktail bitters to prepare it. It is an easy option with few ingredients, perfect for those who enjoy classic flavors but without complications.

9- Porto Flip

Porto Flip is a delicious blend that combines cognac, sweet tawny port, simple syrup and a whole egg. It is interesting to note that not many cocktails incorporate both the yolk and the white of the egg, so for many it is a totally new experience. However, this combination works surprisingly well and results in a unique and delicious drink.

10- French Connection Cocktail

This drink called Bandy is inspired by a classic 70s movie called French Connection. It is a clever and refreshing combination of Cognac and Amaretto, two liqueurs that come together to create a unique flavor experience. The simplicity of this mix is part of its charm, offering an elegant and delicious option for those looking to enjoy a cocktail with a touch of cinematic nostalgia.

11- Suffering Bastard

The cocktail called "The Suffering Bastard" was created with the intention of relieving soldiers' morning hangovers. This drink combines cognac, dry gin, lime syrup, fresh lime juice, Angostura bitters, and a good amount of ginger beer.

12- The Between the Sheets

Between the Sheets is like a revamped version of the classic Sidecar cocktail. Instead of using only cognac, this version combines equal amounts of white rum and cognac, which gives a different and more complex touch to the flavor. This variation offers a unique flavor experience, ideal for those looking for something different but equally refined in their drinks.
